In a radio interview on Thursday with Univision, Pres. Obama pledged to get an amnesty bill done while president. During the 2008 elections, Pres. Obama campaigned to pass comprehensive immigration reform in his first year of office, but despite overwhelming Democrat control in both the House and Senate, other legislative priorities took priority. Then during the 2010 Lame Duck session, the Administration tried to push through the DREAM Act, but the bill was met with bipartisan resistance in the Senate.

Univision Radio, which supports a mass amnesty bill, challenged Pres. Obama on his 2008 campaign pledge to pass a bill during their radio interview.

My presidency is not over. I've got another five years coming up. We're going to get this done.

Pres. Obama rejected suggestions from Univision Radio that he broke a campaign promise, placing all the blame on Congressional Republicans.

During the 2010 DREAM Act debate, the House narrowly passed the bill, but a procedural vote in the Senate came up five votes short of keeping the bill alive. In that vote, 5 Democrats opposed the bill (Sens. Pryor, Baucus, Ben Nelson, Tester, and Hagan), and another Democrat did not vote (Sen. Manchin).
