GOP nomination could hinge on court ruling

By Jeffery Phelps | Examiner | Jun. 16, 2012

A week of chaos in the Republican party culminated Friday as updated reports that hundreds of elected delegates are already on board with a class-action, civil rights lawsuit, filed against the RNC and various state GOP parties, with many more delegates sure to follow.

Challenging the GOP and the 'mainstream' media's current stance that certain delegates are “bound” to vote for Romney, since he won in certain states, those delegates are asking the courts to revisit a 2007 ruling by the RNC itself that concluded there are no such thing as bound delegates.

Adding even more ironic twist is the fact that the ruling was spurred on by an '07 McCain delegate in Utah that wanted to switch to Romney and Attorneys for the RNC, based on GOP election law, revealed that any delegate can vote for whomever they choose when reaching the RNC.

Considering Romney is not yet the official nominee and still has yet to collect enough delegates to have locked up the nomination, the lawsuit could have an impact on the race, if the Judge overseeing the suit ultimately favors the delegates.

In fact, even if Romney were to somehow collect the 1,144 delegates needed to secure the Republican nomination by the RNC, the suit may end up capsizing the entire convention.

Being that most of the media's teleprompter programmers have been attempting to conceal the law, many Romney delegates and a few Santorum and Gingrich delegates are completely unaware of the fact that they don't actually have to vote for the winner of their state at the RNC, at all.

If they have since changed their minds, or do so when reaching the RNC, or want to change their votes to someone else when Romney doesn't win 1,144 delegates on the first ballot, 2nd and 3rd ballots will allow for delegates to change their minds yet again, if they so choose.

In addition to the media silence, many states GOP parties, according to the suit, attended to various nefarious activities throughout the process, including forcing delegates to sign affidavits saying they'd vote for Romney, while others were officially announcing that delegates are required to vote for anyone other than Ron Paul, among other similar, illegal activities.

Other party leaders went as far as not allowing certain legally elected delegates to participate and vote in secondary caucuses, while others kicked the entire election out of the building when their candidates weren't winning. All while local media outlets continued to stump for the establishment and ironically demonized the victimized delegates as being the problem.

There was even a recent 'official' assault and arrest of a handicapped delegate in Louisiana that was being illegally forced to leave the caucus and simply stood his ground and refused to follow unruly orders.

The suit also contends that many states watched open election fraud, including in key early states that gave all the public momentum to the establishment candidates, outright stealing public perception about who the front-runners truly were in the beginning.

What will remain to be seen is, even when the suit is likely found in favor of the delegates who argue that no delegate is bound to vote for anyone in particular, will the media truly cover the developing story and, if they do, will it be covered honestly, without attempting to continue hiding and twisting reality?
