Explosive growth doesn't satisfy Tucson's Raytheon
| Tucson's Raytheon Missile Systems is on a roll. The company's Tomahawk and Paveway missiles are the weapons of choice for the U.S. military in Iraq. Its Standard Missile 3s and its Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicles are the backbone of an elaborate plan to defend the United States and its allies from enemy attacks. Raytheon Missile Systems, a unit of Waltham, Mass., defense contractor Raytheon Co., now is the world's largest supplier of guided missiles and the largest private employer in southern Arizona.

Neocon 'godfather' Norman Podhoretz tells Bush: bomb Iran
| One of the founding fathers of neoconservatism has privately urged President George W Bush to bomb Iran rather than allow it to acquire nuclear weapons. Norman Podhoretz, an intellectual guru of the neoconservative movement who has joined Rudolph Giuliani’s 2008 presidential campaign as a senior foreign policy adviser, held an unpublicised meeting with Bush late last spring at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York.

Sheriff's deputies who patrol areas around South Orange Blossom Trail have the same stories to tell, going up against criminals with powerful guns almost every night, Local 6 reported."(It's) a simple concept: Where there's drugs, there's going to be guns," Orange County sheriff's Cmdr. Al Rollins said.

Seven CIA Veterans Challenge 9/11 Commission Report
| Seven CIA veterans have severely criticized the official account of 9/11 and have called for a new investigation. “I think at simplest terms, there’s a cover-up. The 9/11 Report is a joke,” said Raymond McGovern, 27-year veteran of the CIA, who chaired National Intelligence Estimates during the seventies. “There are a whole bunch of unanswered questions. And the reason they’re unanswered is because this administration will not answer the questions,” he said. McGovern, who is also the founder of VIPS (Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity), is one of many signers of a petition to reinvestigate 9/11.

Col Bob Bowman's Open Letter To US Military Officers
Dear Comrades in Arms, You are facing challenges in 2007 that we of previous generations never dreamed of. I'm just an old fighter pilot (101 combat missions in Vietnam , F-4 Phantom, Phu Cat, 1969-1970) who's now a disabled veteran with terminal cancer from Agent Orange. Our mailing list (over 22,000) includes veterans from all branches of the service, all political parties, and all parts of the political spectrum. We are Republicans and Democrats, Greens and Libertarians, Constitutionists and Reformers, and a good many Independents. What unites us is our desire for a government that (1) follows the Constitution, (2) honors the truth, and (3) serves the people.

Why Is Bush's Kid Brother Neil Getting Federal Funding?
| So here's a tidy little racket: After being installed president thanks to a voting fracas in a state conveniently governed by your brother, cook up a national educational curriculum and place at its center the standardized test. Give the curriculum a name with a wink and a nudge, like, oh, "No Child Left Behind." Then, funnel taxpayer money to equipping schools with a gimmicky learning device focused on standardized tests and sold by your other brother, the sadly anonymous one, whose only (fading) claim to fame is a role in the Savings and Loan scandal of the late 80s.

9/11 Firefighters & Families to Protest Giuliani in Upcoming Oct. Debates
| The 9/11 Firefighters and Families have decided to target upcoming GOP debates to protest Rudy Giuiliani’s continued candidacy, including, potentially, Florida, New Hampshire and Iowa. The decision, say sources following the developing protests, comes on the heels of a large public protest of Giuliani’s presidential ambitions taking place September 24, at a hush-hush Giuliani Waldorf Astoria fund-raiser.

Hoffa: Bush creating North American Union

Hoffa, general president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, celebrated the Senate's 75-23 vote Tuesday night to block the Department of Transportation's Mexican truck demonstration project.

Stopping the Next War
| President Bush has won the Battle of September. When he turns over the presidency on Jan. 20, 2009, there will likely be as many U.S. troops in Iraq as there were when Congress was elected to bring them home in November 2006.

Chip Implants Linked to Animal Tumors
| When the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved implanting microchips in humans, the manufacturer said it would save lives, letting doctors scan the tiny transponders to access patients' medical records almost instantly. The FDA found "reasonable assurance" the device was safe, and a sub-agency even called it one of 2005's top "innovative technologies." But neither the company nor the regulators publicly mentioned this: A series of veterinary and toxicology studies, dating to the mid-1990s, stated that chip implants had "induced" malignant tumors in some lab mice and rats.

APEC: road show of the ‘new world order’
| Perhaps Sydneysiders should not be surprised that harsh “crowd control” measures are accompanying the 2007 APEC meeting. APEC has always been the whip-wielding road show of the “new world order”, pushing a neoliberal free trade agenda and ruthlessly crushing dissent along the way. The harbour city’s residents are now getting a taste of what the disenfranchised masses of the colonised developing world regularly encounter — organised mass repression by militarised state security forces at the behest of imperialist masters.
